Success Stories
Many projects present unique circumstances with specialized criteria that can make for a challenging scenario. It’s our ability to deliver results in these “unique” situations that make us different.
Oak Park Public Library – New
Situation
An ethnically diverse community on the west side of Chicago elected to build a new 90,000 square foot 3-story library. The library committee wanted to incorporate high quality design and technologically advanced furnishings within the library worthy of the original home of Frank Lloyd Wright. The goal was to blend products of high design and functionality with features that pay tribute to the literary community.
Result
After visits to other “LFI Libraries” the library team chose LFI product lines as the basis for design for their shelving, AV fixtures and custom furniture. The LFI products provided the answer to the design criteria with sophisticated products and advanced functionality.
Several features within the shelving were preferred by the team. For example, they liked the book supports and how they “locked-on” to the shelf backs. The clever attachment method makes the book supports tamper resistant, and they are always there when needed. In general, they liked the substantial look and clean lines of the LFI shelving.
While the library operated in a temporary building LFI worked closely with the team on AV display fixtures. We provided several fixtures for experimentation for the ever-changing AV collection. After a year of testing there was an overwhelming acceptance by the team and patrons to the “browsing ease” created by the advance features within the LFI fixtures. Additionally, the team incorporated our CD listening stations in both adult and youth departments. The listening stations are mounted directly on the fixtures and are a big HIT with all ages!
Custom wood end panels on all shelving ranges completed the installation and complemented the buildings interior woodwork. A truly advanced library for an advanced community.
